Outreach provided to Huntsville Hospital by Lockheed Martin and The Surgery Center of Huntsville
World-famous magician, illusionist and performer Kevin Spencer appeared at Merrimack Hall in February 2010 with his international touring show, Spencers: Theatre of Illusion. But Kevin is also part of a unique program called the Healing of Magic he developed to help patients with special needs learn simple magic tricks to help with their therapy.
Merrimack Hall was lucky to be able to take Kevin to visit children at Huntsville Hospital's Womena nd Children's Hospital, as well as patients at St. Jude's Children's Hospital while he was visiting Huntsville. During these two days, Kevin taught the children simple magic tricks to perform for their friends and families.
On Saturday, Kevin held a workshop for children with special needs here at Merrimack Hall. Similar to his classes at the hospitals, he taught children with special needs both physical and emotional, how to perform magic tricks. This one-hour workshop was an exciting opportunity for the children to learn magic tricks and techniques, while at the same time improving their focus, muscle function and coordination skills.
We thank Kevin Spencer for his time, love and committment to his craft, and Lockheed Martin Corporation and The Surgery Center of Huntsville for making these appearances possible. For more information on Kevin's Healing of Magic program, visit their official website.
Major funding for this program has been provided by the Lockheed Martin Corporation and The Surgery Center of Huntsville.
