The Souls of Our
Feet: A Celebration of American Tap Dance
Featuring legendary tap dancer Arthur Duncan!
Performed by Austin-based Tapestry Dance Company, The Souls of Our Feet celebrates American tap dance by restaging the best of rhythm tap masterpieces from Fred Astaire & Eleanor Powell to The Nicholas Brothers. Complemented by authentic film clips such as Singin’ in the Rain and The Littlest Rebel, the show also features the live swingin’ music of The Eddy Hobizal Jazz Trio. Additionally, tap legend Arthur Duncan will be appearing in this one-night event! Duncan is best known for his recurring performances on "The Lawrence Welk Show" from 1964 to 1982. This one-of-a-kind performance is a celebration of rhythm at its best!
“[Tap is] an indigenous American art form. It was invented right here...It was our goal to truly celebrate this wonderful world of tap dance with not only a small selection of film classics but to be able to showcase some of the incredible artists that people don’t know.”—Acia Gray, Co-Founder and Artistic Director
“For the show not only rescues and preserves pieces of our past that might easily have been lost or left to us only as flickering shadows on a screen; it keeps them alive, reminds us in every exquisite kick, step, shuffle, buck and wing, and rat-a-tat tapped out by this exuberant troupe that tap is a living form, that it always has been and always deserves to be.”—The Austin Chronicle
