Hormonal Imbalance: A Mood Swinging
Musical Review
An Estrogen-Fueled, Hilarious New Show that Celebrates the Best of Babes, Boys, and Botox
This tour captures the essence of four female songwriters— The Four Bitchin’ Babes. Longstanding members Sally Fingerett and Debi Smith are taking the steam from their hot flashes and have cooked up a whole new concept for this
“Fabulous Female Folkestra.” With their new gal pals, Comedian Deirdre Flint (from Philadelphia) and studio vocalist Nancy Moran (from Nashville) by their sides, The Four Bitchin’ Babes are hotter than ever.
“Together they tell humorously observant tales of modern urban life, and harmonize like a heavenly chorus.”
The Chicago Tribune
After 17 years on tour, seven recordings, and one full length concert DVD, the Babes welcome in a new era with Hormonal Imbalance, a new musical revue that is one part comedy road show, one part celebration of hearth and home. With sorority-sister chemistry they perform original songs and stories offering both poignant views and unbridled comedic commentary on the joys and dilemmas of everyday life. With heavenly harmony, they share struggles to balance careers and family, chocolate obsessions with low carb inner peace, CNN and TV Land. Featuring songs such as The Boob Fairy, Viagra In The Waters, and Somebody’s Inner Diva Raids Our CD, their performances strike a candidly humorous chord with audiences.
How it Began...
No one could have predicted that four singer songwriters banding together for some shows back in the summer of 1990 would become an amazing 15-year adventure. It began with Christine Lavin, the original creative force behind The Four Bitchin' Babes. She had just released a compilation CD of winter folk songs by singer songwriter pals. When the disc became wildly successful Chris decided to put together a road show. She chose to tour with "gal pals" Patty Larkin from the Cambridge area, Megon McDonough from Chicago, and Sally Fingerett from Columbus. By the time their cross-country tour ended in DC, the girls had arranged and polished fabulous harmonies, shared clothes, laughed more than legally allowed by law, and spent way too much money shopping on the road. The Bitchin' Babes were born.
And individuals they were, leading each of them to new paths and pursuits over the years. With so many brilliant women musicians in their national community, finding someone to step into a Babe’s shoes was not difficult. With guests like Cheryl Wheeler, Janis Ian, and Mary Travers, there would be many new songs and new stories.
