An Evening of Storytelling & Comedy to Benefit the Johnny Stallings Arts Program

For 30 years, Greg Screws has spent his time writing down stories from his career instead of actually working. Like life, TV news is filled with stories that leave your jaw on the floor, either with humor or anger. On April 21 at Merrimack Hall, Greg will bring stories from his career, tell the story of how he really is the luckiest man in America, and share observations that will make you laugh, or leave you dumbfounded. Greg Screws: Local Media Icon chronicles the trip of one "Icon" through newsrooms and the blogosphere. Some of the stories that Greg will share on April 21 may actually be true.

About Greg Screws

Greg Screws has no marketable skills. For some reason he has managed to stay employed for 30 years. If you ask him about it, he will say he's only been working in TV news for 20 years. But sometimes Greg is full of crap and some people know this. He is a University of Alabama grad and actually roomed with Forrest Gump. Greg got involved in television sports when his mother Jean was a crew chief for Richard Petty. He transitioned into news when Robert Reeves hid Jerry Hayes' souvenir rodeo horns in the back of his 1992 Mercury Marquis. Currently, Jerry does not know Greg has the horns so please do not tell anyone. Greg is having the time of his life working in the best newsroom in the best city in the country. Greg co-anchors WHNT NEWS 19 at 5 and 9 p.m. with a very patient woman name Clarissa who has heard all these stories about a thousand times. His 'Deal or Dud' segment tests consumer products and it's a miracle he hasn't been injured. If you call the WHNT General Manager and tell them how much you love Greg Screws on televison, rumor has it Greg's mother will buy you a sack of Penn's Hamburgers.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Johnny Stallings Arts Program, which provides performing arts education to children and teens with special needs.
