Merrimack Hall is home to the Johnny Stallings Arts Program, which provides arts education to individuals with special needs through classes like Dance Your Dreams! and Project UP. Since the program was created in 2008, Merrimack Hall holds an annual spring recital to celebrate the achievements of these precious students. All students in Dance Your Dreams! and Project UP perform in this afternoon celebration.
These children and teens live with a variety of challenges, including Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, cancer, autism and more. Each child is assisted by a helper who commits one year to volunteering in the program. The recital is also a major fundraiser for the following year’s program — a chance for the public and supporters to give back while also showing support for these incredible dancers. The recital also recognizes citizens with the Dream Big Award. These individuals, just like our students, have followed their own dreams despite challenges they faced.
All proceeds from the Dream Big! Recital will directly benefit the Johnny Stallings Arts Program 2011-12 classes. Join us in supporting and celebrating these remarkable students.
