Chris Tyler Master Classes & Open Audition

Renowned Hip Hop dancer and choreographer Chris Tyler returns to Merrimack Hall! Chris's work has been featured in music videos and at events such as the MTV Movie Awards. He was trained by and has worked extensively with acclaimed choreographer Shane Sparks, of the FOX smash hit “So You Think You Can Dance,” and he was chosen to teach with Shane at "The Pulse On Tour.". Chris has swept Nashville with his intricate choreography and smooth style. His training, from the streets of his hometown Cincinnati to the Millennium Dance Complex in L.A., has given him the talent and knowledge to become one of the country’s masters of his craft.
Jenny Belsito will teach the Contemporary master classes. Jenny has been a performer with American Entertainment Productions, Jean Ann Ryan Productions, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Gus Giordano’s Jazz Dance Chicago to name a few. She is the owner of Green Hills School of Dance, one of the largest dance studios in the southeast.
Additionally, Chris and Jenny will be selecting students from each class to participate in a lecture demonstration as part of our Dance Your Dreams Spring Recital on Sunday, June 14. The selected students will get to perform the hip hop routines they learned over the weekend on stage in front of a packed house.
OPEN AUDITION FOR DANCERS, SINGERS AND ACTORS: Chris will also be conducting an open audition for the national DDO Artist Agency. DDO Nashville represents several local performers including Chesney Matthews, Emma Jenkins, Chelsea Quintela, Brian Johnson, Calvin Fletcher, and Curtis Rogers. These performers can be seen in movies, on tours, and in numerous music videos. Classes are not mandatory to audition, but helpful as the dancers will have more exposure to Chris Tyler and his scouts.
SCHEDULE:
SATURDAY, June 13:
3-6 p.m. (AGES 6-14): Contemporary with Jenny and Hip Hop with Chris*
SUNDAY, June 14:
12-3 p.m. (AGES 15+): Contemporary with Jenny and Hip Hop with Chris*
*Contemporary and Hip Hop classes must be purchased together at $35.00, we are not able to sell the classes individually.
4 p.m.: Dance Your Dreams! Recital and performance opportunity for those selected from the weekend workshops with Chris and Jenny
6pm: OPEN CALL FOR DDO ARTIST AGENCY, DANCERS, ACTORS, AND SINGERS! ALL AGES WELCOME
-All wishing to audition should bring a resume and headshot
-Singers should prepare 16 bars of a song to be sung without accompaniment
-Actors should prepare a short monologue
