Wade Robson, Emmy-Winning Choreographer
ARCHIVE: July 28, 2007
In July, 2007, Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center was honored to present Wade Robson, acclaimed dancer, choreographer and director, in a one-of-a-kind dance workshop. Wade is best known for his award-winning work with musical artists such as Britney Spears, NSYNC, Usher, Carly Simon and many more, as well as his hit MTV show The Wade Robson Project. His work was frequently seen on the Fox Television smash hit So You Think You Can Dance.
In addition to his master classes, Wade conducted an extensive audition process for a 3-day intensive. Ultimately, he selected 13 dancers and two understudies from many different dance organizations to work with him on his original piece, "Change".
A portion of "Change" was performed by all the finalists on the Fox TV smash hit So You Think You Can Dance. Wade expanded this choreography and created it in Merrimack Hall's performance hall, giving the young dancers he selected the unprecedented opportunity to see him up close and personal as he developed this inspiring work.
"Change" was previewed at Merrimack Hall on July 28, 2007 for the guests at our Open House and received a five-minute standing ovation.
This program was made possible by a partnership that included the National Endowment for the Arts and The Alabama State Council on the Arts.
