Merrimack Hall welcomed Chris Tyler, Guest Artist of DDO Artist Agency Nashville, to Merrimack for a day of Hip-Hop Master Classes March 29, 2008. Chris is a renowned Hip-Hop dancer and choreographer, whose work has been featured in Music Videos and at events such as the MTV Movie Awards and Dove Awards in 2004. Chris was trained by and has worked extensively with acclaimed choreographer Shane Sparks, of the Fox TV smash hit “So You Think You Can Dance,” and he was chosen to teach with Shane at The Pulse On Tour in Atlanta, GA in 2007. Chris has appeared in Music Videos, Television, Film, National and International Tours, and he travels to lead master classes and workshops all over the United States. Chris is also a rap artist, who produces and writes his own music. Chris Tyler taught four classes ranging in age and skill level for students ages six and up.

Music Video!

Not only did Chris Tyler teach different routines in each of his four Master Classes, but he also taught a dance to his own rap song “Put Ya Cups Down.”

Chris chose five dancers from each class to be his back-up dancers while he and his partner performed their song on stage at Merrimack Hall at the end of the day.

This performancewas videotaped and used as promotional material for Da Enforcerz, Chris’s rap group, and is also on YouTube.

As well as being a choreographer, dancer, and rap artist, Chris is also the Artists’ Director for the DDO Artist Agency’s office in Nashville, TN. DDO represents dancers, as well as other artists, and books them in music videos, on tours, on cruise ships, as extras or dancers in movies, along with other professional opportunities. On Chris’s first visit to Merrimack Hall, he held an open audition for DDO. 13 local dancers were signed by DDO, and Chris said he was stunned at the amount of talent we have right here in Huntsville! Those dancers have all already received audition notifications and opportunities are immediately opening up for them!
