Our Mission

Our mission is to provide visual and performing arts education, and cultural activities, to children and adults with special needs.

Merrimack Hall is home to The Happy Headquarters, a visual and performing arts program for children, teens and adults with special needs. The Happy Headquarters has three distinct components: Happy HeARTs, a weekly after-school program of arts education; Happy Days, a day program for adults 18+; and Happy Camp, a series of half-day summer camps. Through these three programs, Merrimack Hall is serving over 500 individuals with special needs. The quality of life for people with special needs has been drastically improved by Merrimack Hall, as we work toward bringing the people we serve out of the shadows and into the life of our community.

Our Happy HeARTs Arts Program serves more than 500 children, teens and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities each year through a variety of weekly classes and special programs.

In addition to Happy HeARTs, Merrimack Hall also gives back to the community by providing facility use to other nonprofit organizations, and reduced or free tickets to the underserved. Since opening our doors in 2007, Merrimack Hall has given back more than $1.5 million to the community.  Each time you purchase a ticket, you are helping to fund our outreach programs, and we thank you for your patronage!

Volunteers work with our students in our art programs to learn music, art, and dance.  More importantly, they serve as mentors and friends to their partners with special needs.
